A pilgrimage to Limoges

It is June 943 and people come to Limoges on the pilgrimage to the shrine of Saint Martial.  Emma of Nespouls with her friend Constance, and her guards Pons and Gaucelm, are riding to the abbey.

This will be the opportunity for them to meet Abbot Aimon and Bishop Turpion of Aubusson, Gothard the clerk and a youth, Silvain, who have come to Limoges to pray to Saint-Martial, as well as the knights Raimon of Planh and Peire of Valmeiras, and the goldsmith Guilhem and his wife Edwiga.

Theft, disappearances and deceit… Emma will need a night in prayer in the chapel to enlighten her…

The day has come, the great mass of Saint-Martial will surprise everyone. Some are punished, some slip through the net and others are stricken with remorse. The lucky ones go home safely after those few eventful days.

Pilgrimage to Limoges is the translation of my French novel Les Vigiles de Saint Martial. It has a sequel, A Wise Old Man.
